Facebook Home : A new service for Facebook User

IMGP1701-580-90

New service called “Facebook Home” is going to be launched by Facebook on April 12 for Android Users. In the beginning, only a handful of existing Android phones will be supported. The tablet version, would come within several months said a Facebook official.
Facebook Home is similar to Android launcher apps as it changes the home-screen of the devices. It shows the Facebook updates from your friends on the home screen. It also allows users to update their Facebook status directly from the home screen.
“Today’s phones are designed around apps, not people,” Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said at an event in California, the US. He said that Facebook Home puts people first instead of apps and makes an Android phone a social device.

Yahoo bought Summly for $30 million

361519598_640
London-based newsreader developer Summly has been acquired by Yahoo. The deal, said to be worth $30 million, will see the Summly app close, and Yahoo issued a statement that said the company plans to “acquire the technology and you’ll see it come to life throughout Yahoo’s mobile experiences soon.”
Adam Cahan, the senior vice president of mobile and emerging products at Yahoo said in a blog post that the app “started with an insight — that we live in a world of constant information and need new ways to simplify how we find the stories that are important to us, at a glance. Mobile devices are shifting our daily routines, and users have changed not only what, but how much information they consume. Yet most articles and web pages were formatted for browsing with mouse clicks. The ability to skim them on a phone or a tablet can be a real challenge — we want easier ways to identify what’s important to us.”
Summly founder Nick D’Aloisio claims that over 90 million summaries over 500,000 app downloads have been read in just a few months. D’Aloisio wrote on the Summly homepage that the app, on Apple’s list of Best Apps of 2012, will be removed from the App Store today.

Reset The Administrator Password

5 Tips To Reset The Administrator Password in Windows XP

At Make Use Of, we have covered quite a few password tips including how to crack almost any Windows password, how to reset Linux passwords and how to view passwords hidden behind asterisks.
Earlier in the month, Karl posted a tip on how to recover your Windows XP administrator password by using the installation disk.  However, he forgot to mention a few other easier ways how to reset Windows XP password without having to go through the installation process.

1. Use Alt, Control, Delete & The Windows Welcome Screen

authorisation_password
If you have set your computer up to login via the Welcome Screen, there may be a slight chance that you will be able to login as the Administrator. Depending on who installed XP on your computer, there may or may not be a password on the Administrator’s account.
So simply press Alt+Control+Delete twice. You will be presented with a login box. Click OK to login without typing any user name or password in. If that doesn’t work, type in “˜Administrator‘ into the username box and press enter. If that doesn’t work, so far, you are in bad luck.
If you are able to log in, simply go to the control panel, go into User Accounts and change your password.

2. Login To Another Account & Reset The Password Through User Management (XP Professional Only)

This will only work if you have Windows XP Professional, and you can login with an account. Right click on My Computer and select Manage. Then select Local User and Groups ““> Users. Right click on your username and select Set Password. Follow the prompts and set yourself a new password.

If you can’t get into Device Manager because you don’t have a user account to get into your computer, you can try opening Device Manager from another computer. Right click on where it says Computer Management (Local) and choose Connect to another computer“¦ once you are logged in to another computer within your home network.

Then enter your computer IP or Name. For example 169.168.x.x, 10.1.1.x or \\DesktopPC. (replacing x.x with your computer IP address. You can also click on Browse ““> Advance ““> Find now to browse for computers on your network.
how to reset Windows XP password
If you are granted access to the remote computer, follow the steps I mentioned above and set a new password. If not, continue reading.

3. Reset The Password Through Safe Mode & Command Prompt

If the above steps have failed so far, you can try and boot into Safe Mode. To do this, press F8 while your computer is booting. Once in safe mode, you can try going into the control panel and reset your password. If you can’t, you can try and open up a Command Prompt by opening Run and typing cmd. Enter net user [username] [enternewpassword]. For example, If I want to change my account which is Jack to password abcde, I would type in net user jack abcde and press enter. Your password should now be changed.

4. Use A Live (Bootable CD)

If you are at this stage, and haven’t so far managed to get into your computer, you may want to use a Live Bootable CD. You may want to have a look at the post 3 Ways To Reset A Forgotten Windows Administrator Password and follow those steps.
Alternatively, you can use the Live CD so you can boot into your computer and access the files so you can back them up on an external hard drive or USB stick. If you can’t get into Windows, this is your only option.

5. Remove Your HardDrive, Backup, Format, Reinstall

One final way, and probably a good thing to do if your computer is running really slow, or you can’t get into Windows at all; take out your hard drive, put it into another computer, backup your data, format the hard drive, put it back into the original computer, and re-install Windows. You may want to have a look at The Idiot’s Ultimate Guide to Building Your Own PC for some help taking out your hard drive.
So these are my basic tips if I can’t get access to a computer to a user account in a Windows XP computer. I hope these tips will come in handy.

How to root your android phone

#1. OverClock your Device and Improve the Performance
  • Generally most of SmartPhone users tend to complain about slowing down of device, internal memory issues, battery issues.
  • OverClocking is something that is related to your Device’s Primary Memory and Battery Life, which in deed helps you to speed up your device and improves the performance.
  • After rooting, the user gets access to the root of the device, which helps us to set our preferable CPU Voltage as well as ClockSpeed.
  • In order to OverClock or UnderClock our Rooted Device, we might require applications like SetCPU, CPU Tuner and Nofrills CPU and make sure that your kernel needs to support overclocking, as most stock kernels doesn’t support it you might have to search on the web for finding best kernel that supports it.
  • If you are concerned about battery life, then you have to UnderClock your device, and in order to improve the speed/performance you have too OverClock it. I’ll be writing the tutorials that helps you to OverClock or UnderClock your Rooted Devices soon.
#2. You can Move Apps to SD Card and can convert User apps to System Apps (vice-versa)
  • Rooting gives us the flexibility. We can move our apps from System’s memory to SD card. So, if you want to increase the speed of your device, it is always suggestible to transfer apps to SD card from internal memory.
  • Most of the custom ROMs have ability to take complete control over system’s memory and can install apps to SD card. If you’ve chosen a wrong Custom Rom or if your device doesn’t support a custom Rom that contains this capability, App2SD is one of the solutions that we are having to help us out.
  • We can uninstall System Apps, and convert the user app into the system app and vice versa. The Rooted devices force us to have System Apps which might not satisfy your requirement, but rooting breaks this limitation.
  • According to me, it is one of the biggest benefits that we are having.
things that we do after rooting android
#3. Custom Rom – The real Rockstar
  • The major benefits of rooting your Android device is to have Custom Roms on our devices. These are so-called Operating Systems which works only on the Rooted Phones.
  • The major functionality of Custom Rom is to provide the user with a decent interface by improving the speed and potential of our rooted device.
  • There are many Custom Roms that are available on the web and you can download one of the best suited Rom for your device and I personally recommend Cyanogen Mod.
  • You can check how to install custom Rom and their related tutorials/troubleshooting issues on XDA Developers forum, which I regularly follow.
#4. Other things that you can do after Rooting your Android Device
  • We can Increase Internal Memory as well as RAM Speed.
  • Blocking the annoying Adds, as Google turned too commercial these days.
  • Can change Permissions for Applications, backup as well as restore them easily by using few dedicated Android rooted apps.
  • Security, Control, Anti-Theft access, and Increasing speed of Secondary memory while transferring are additional benefits.
  • Can Change the name of Device, Flash a custom recovery, special rooted apps and what not, you’ll have everything you’d expect.

Mitashi BE-150 3G Tablet Review

The year 2012 has seen launches of many android tablets from low-end range all the way up to high-end range.Every gadget company nowadays wants to get a piece of Android tablet market and now another Indian company-Mitashi has launched its own lineup of Android tablet which caters to the budget range of tablet market.
Today we are going to review the flagship tablet called Mitashi BE-150 3G,which is a 7-inch android tablet running Android ICS a.k.a Android 4.0.4.
Built Quality
When we are talking about a mid-budget tablet, built quality cant be the main USP of the tablet and this tablet is no exception. The built quality is mediocre and it feels plasticky in hand. The backside is a fingerprint magnet and requires frequent cleaning.
DSC_0242  DSC_0244
During our tests,we found  the back panel to be creaking a bit at certain places. Also the whole tablet rattles when using the speaker at more than 60% of its max output.
Accessories
The accessories kit is minimal and includes:
  1. AC Charger
  2. Data Cable
  3. Warranty Card
Display
The display is the main USP of this tablet. It features a IPS display instead of the regular TFT displays which are generally found in tablets in these range.Being a IPS display, the viewing angles are pretty good with no drastic shift in color when viewing from an angle, also the colors are rich and vibrant.
No Shift in Color at Different Angles
DSC_0251  DSC_0254  DSC_0255
The display is pretty bright but sadly the tablet does not feature an ambient light sensor which means no auto brightness feature. If you are buying this tablet for movie watching, you are thoroughly going to enjoy it.It has a resolution of 800X600 pixels.
Camera
The tablet features a 0.3MP front facing camera and a 5MP camera on back. The camera is not a strong point of this tablet and its performance is really very poor.Photos are of average quality in good light conditions and in low light conditions, its below acceptable levels.
Audio
The external speaker is pretty loud but clarity is not one of its strong points, but this might not be a issue for non-power users.Apart from the external speakers,we get a 3.5mm jack. The output is pretty loud and during our tests we never felt the need to go above 40% of its max output.
But one major issue is presence of static in the 3.5mmvjack,the hissing sound might irritate some people. The hissing sound is present even when nothing is being played out.
Video
It played most of the video formats without losing breath, the inbuilt video player does its job pretty well and we had no issues even while playing 1080p movie rips.
Storage
On the storage fronts,we get  0.92GB of storage for applications which is pretty good, while we get another1.98GB for storing user data like movies, photos, music etc.The storage can be further expanded using microSD cards. It supports upto 32GB of external storage.
Connectivity
The main feature of this tablet is 3G connectivity,it features a sim card slot for inserting 3G enabled sim cards. The tablet also has calling functionality so it can be also used as a phone if one is willing to use it.The 3G works well with no drop in connection at all.Even the voice call was crystal clear with no disturbance at call during calls.
DSC_0250
Apart from 3G connectivity,we get Wi-Fi with b/g/n support as well as Bluetooth support. The tablet also has a HDMI port for mirroring the tablet on external display devices.

Gaming
Let me tell you frankly if you are looking to get a tablet only for hardcore gaming then this is not the tablet for you. However, the tablet can sail through casual gaming smoothly.During our tests we played many games and it sailed through every game.
Games we played:
  • Fruit Ninja
  • Temple Run
  • Angry Birds
  • Blood & Glory
  • Subway Surfer
No lags were experienced  playing any of these games at all.The touch response was fair enough although not as sharp as one gets on high-end tablets. The motion sensor works well and does not gives false inputs.
Battery Life
A 3000mAh battery does its duty in the tablet. We were able to get around 5.3 hours of battery life with heavy usage and around 8 hours of battery life  on normal usage, which brings the average battery life to be around 6 hours.
Charging the battery takes time but it can be improved using a high amp charger. With the default charger it takes 6 hours to fully charge the battery.
Price and Conclusion
If you are looking for a tablet which can do fair amount of gaming along with brilliant screen quality and video  playback along with 3G+Wifi options but don’t wanna burn a hole in your pocket then this the tablet for you.
Although it has its share of niggles but the price point at which it is available makes this tablet a neat buy.It has available for a street price of around Rs.10,000/- in the Indian market with 1-year warranty from Mitashi India.
